DESIGN ENGINEER

Reports to: Director of Engineering

The Design Engineer is responsible for design, programming, deployment, and support of complex audio/visual systems. Candidates must have proven track record of design and engineering knowledge of audio, video, interactives, digital media, infrastructure, IT, and control systems.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide detailed and pro-active Design Engineering for audio, video, digital media, infrastructure, IT, and control systems on projects as assigned
  • Provide AutoCAD drawings in compliance with Technomedia CAD Standard specifications
  • Must be proficient at meeting and communicating with clients, research, evaluations, and seeking recommendations
  • Create detailed technical and equipment budgets and spreadsheets according to Company standards to match project requirements
  • Initiate and maintain proper design direction and scheduled deliverables per the needs of projects. Must be proficient at managing draftsmen, fabricators and others on projects to maintain design intent and superior quality
  • Provide AV design support as appropriate to other members of the Company to help ensure successful design, integration, training, and closeout of projects
  • Provide support to the Sales Department including, but not limited to, the creation of technical system order of magnitude cost estimates and proposed equipment lists and all written technical overview documentation to Company standards
  • For each design, provide deliverables including, but not limited to sound pressure level estimates, grounding details, cable requirements. Equipment room layouts, power requirements, heat load data, single line flow diagrams, rack elevations, patch bay elevations (as needed), custom panel details, speaker mounting details, projector mounting details and geometry (as needed), and any other project specific deliverables as required. All documents will follow the Company standards and practices outlined in the Company Project Management Manual and the Engineering checklist
  • Responsible for the initiation and completion of final built drawings, manuals and documentation
  • Travel as required for field engineering, meetings, site supervision, commissioning, final test and adjust
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Develop DSP files as required
  • Programming of all system components, excluding control systems.
  • Supervise Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Responsible for Design Intent Narratives
  • Travel to remote client locations and site as needed

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3 years experience designing large scale A/V design and build projects

Reports to: Senior Drafter

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide AutoCAD drawings in compliance with Technomedia Solutions, LLC standards as required by the needs of the assigned projects and in the Project Management Manual
  • Consistently acquire and maintain the most current AutoCAD and Revit certifications
  • Completion of all stages of drawings, manuals, and documentation required under the normal course of business and according to the high standards of the Company

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, test and deploy control systems and related AV equipment.
  • Create high quality screenshots and programming for fabrication testing. Support Fabrication and Site testing to ensure a properly working product of the highest standards.
  • Travel to project sites to finalize and troubleshoot programming code; ensuring that final programming code is debugged and the client’s expectations have been met.
  • Manage work product in a proactive manner, ensuring that both the in-house team members and the client are always kept informed on the progress, challenges, and impacts, changes to schedule, and scope.
  • Responsible and accountable for understanding all details of system scope, schedule, and deliverables as they relate to your projects at all times.

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Reports to: General Manager

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership, management, direction and maintain controls over the Engineering (including both Design and Programming) and CADD departments at TMS, from sales support efforts to closeout, manual completion, delivery of as-built drawings and archival of project documentation and programming
  • Responsible for the scheduling of technical resources, direction, discipline, identification and implementation of technical training as well as general and administrative day-to-day management of both internal and subcontracted engineering and CADD staff
  • Responsible and accountable for understanding and managing details of the technical scope, schedule, deliverables and budgetary constraints as they relate to projects handled by departments under your management at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, working with the engineer(s) to develop system narratives, final equipment lists, detailed engineering and drafting documents, programming and PAV files, etc
  • Responsible for the operational structure, process and procedures, in coordination with TMS policies and procedures. Must ensure that all staff under your management (both internal and subcontractors) adhere to said TMS policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and enhancement of company engineering standards. Proactively look for ways to improve systems, tools and workflow
  • Facilitate and conduct in-house reviews and ensure that all technical deliverables are made on time and in strict conformance to TMS standards, practices and policies
  • Work with fabricators and programmers as requested to ensure the successful completion of fabrication, FAT testing and programming.
  • Perform billable engineering services as required to help get projects completed on time and on budget when necessary
  • Participate as required in on-site activity, tests and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Oversee project design reviews and third party reviews. Review and approve technical documentation prior to release of deliverables

VIDEO DESIGN ENGINEER

Reports to: General Manager

The senior projection specialist must provide a variety of projection related services. These include but definitely are not limited too; projection system design, projector mapping, domes and 360-theater experience, torus screens that may require custom lens. A good working knowledge of peppers ghost, 3D/4D theater design, blended images, HFR 4k media server technology. A important aspect of this position is the support of the sales and engineering departments by providing creative and appropriate projection solutions. Must be fluent in various types of projection solutions and methodologies. Must be willing to work with the Sales and Creative teams in developing solutions that meet the creative needs of our clients.

Fluency in AutoCAD and Sketchup for use in defining projection solutions and communicating design criteria is important. The role will also require you to lead in the setup of demo systems and mock ups that verify the proper working solution in design.

Must be self-motivated, high energy, intelligent, full of fresh innovative ideas, eager and able to give and follow direction. Willing to educate and train a small team of Junior Projectionist, to create an environment that will encourage growth within the Video Projection fields. As a global company, travel is required.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Designing, testing, and commissioning of video and projection systems for commercial projects including but not limited to theme parks, museums, restaurants, retail, special venues, etc
  • Perform Projections Studies and supply detailed reports and documentation supporting findings and recommendations
  • Specify and design optic’s including customs lenses required for desired video project systems
  • Work with Lens manufacturers to specify and deliver customs lenses.
  • Work with internal staff as well as consultants to integrate video projection into a complete A/V package for our clients
  • Design within current leading industry video standards
  • Work with standard, high definition and 4K ultra high-definition encoding stations, and be able to liaison with outside studio services
  • Review AutoCAD drawings for complete compliance with company CAD Standard specifications
  • Determine technical requirements, draft technical overviews and specifications, and research products
  • Testing, Commissioning and Training of systems directly responsible for designing
  • Must be proficient at meeting and communicating with clients, research, evaluations, and seeking recommendations
  • Create detailed technical documentation according to company standards in order to meet project requirements

EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least (5) five years experience and be currently involved in the industry…familiar with all manufacturers of 3-chip DLP, SXRD projectors, custom lens manufacturers and the suppliers of high-end media server and processing and video distribution technologies. Looking for Projection Mapping experience along with Giant Screen (Imax like) experience, preferably in the entertainment / theme park industry.

3D experience is a must; experience with Infitech, RealD, linear polarization, projection mapping and workflow required. Experience with NovaStar LED is desired.
