The Whitney Museum has moved to its new Renzo Piano designed home in downtown Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Open in May of 2015, the project substantially enlarged the Whitney’s exhibition and programming space, enabling the first comprehensive view of the Museum’s growing collection, which today comprises more than 19,000 works of modern and contemporary American art. Technomedia is proud to be a part of the team that has brought this revolutionary Museum to life. Working closely with Cerami & Associates, our scope included a “Black Box” theater, complete with a BARCO digital cinema system; a large boardroom; various classroom and education centers, and a digital media library space, outfitted with every conceivable type of media playback device, allowing the Whitney archivists to explore and share its vast collection.
